Tour Mont Blanc - Part 2

“The purpose of life is to live it, to taste experience to the utmost, to reach out eagerly and without fear for newer and richer experience.”  ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"What a view!" - that was our first impression when we looked through the windows of the refuge we stayed in last night. The scenery was breathtaking. You can read all about it in this post. More pictures about our morning view are there as well. We promise, you wont be disappointed!
We ate breakfast around 7 a.m. It was as cozy and primitive as our dinner, but it was charming non the less.

8 a.m was the time we left, into the cold again. We were lucky that we could travel with a guided group. They were taking a different route because our way down would be to steep and slippery, it was too dangerous. We met a lot of kind, supportive people and a mule named Oscar! He was more experienced then all of us!

Our way down took 2 hours, but eventually we got there safely. While the group took a break, we decided to continue our journey on our own again. We had a lot of courage and motivation to continue. On our way we met a few Belgian adventurers and we traveled with them until we arrived at refuge "De Motte".  There we drank a hot coco and ate, yes, bread and cheese. It has been our main lunch for the whole trip, but when you're hungry you honestly eat everything.

The climb,... it was okey, but after a while the rain was making the path muddy and slippery. The weather hasn't been too kind to us. First the snow, now the rain and soon mist as well. Every time we took a step, we did slide down again. It took a lot of energy to get to the top. We meet again fellow friend, the S.N.O.W. What had to be one of the most promising views, was nothing more than a white canvas. Crossing the border from France to Italy, we decided to not waist to much time and continued. The way down was harder than our way up. It was a muddy paradise and I cannot deny it, I fell a few times. I think my sister was lucky to keep her balance because I was covered in it from head to toe.

Luckily, on our way we saw a rainbow, and the walk through the valley was astonishing. In Refuge "Elisabetta" we were welcomed kindly. They took care of my mud problem immediately. The rooms were comfortable and very warm. Dinner was delicious! Let's hope our shoes are dry when we wake up.
